    What Is ECET2?

Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teaching and Teachers

In summer of 2015 and winter of 2016, several teacher leaders across Kansas were invited to attend the national ECET2 convening to network with other exceptional educators from around the nation. Their charge was to begin organizing a regional convening, but more importantly, to connect, grow, and be leaders in elevating the teaching profession in the state.

Led by teachers, for teachers, Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teaching and Teachers (ECET2) is a national event created and made possible by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. This convening aims to inspire and empower teachers across the country to grow, collaborate, and lead in a variety of ways to effect change in their classrooms, schools, districts, communities, and in the teaching profession.

The belief behind ECET2 is that teacher leadership is critical to transforming student outcomes and strengthening the teaching profession. Even promising teachers, however, can have a hard time exercising that leadership. We want to take the best of our profession, tap into their strengths, and grow their potential. ECET2 seeks to respond to these challenges by connecting teachers to one another through national and regional convenings that are focused on teacher leadership and innovative instructional practices.

  • Why ECET2 in Kansas?

Teacher Leaders Make a Positive Difference

To Elevate and Celebrate the Teaching Profession

Kansas educators are passionate and dedicated teachers who have rare opportunities to communicate and collaborate with other educators across the state. Though there are a few digital networks and professional organizations supporting these connections, finding the opportunity to connect teachers from all regions is challenging.

Our goal is for teachers to return to their schools and districts inspired and empowered to grow, collaborate, and lead in ways that strengthen the teaching profession and improve student outcomes. How teachers choose to put these new skills to work will vary. Ultimately, the goal of ECET2 Kansas is to help teacher leaders grow, collaborate, and lead.
